 CROWDS CHEER ON CHRISTMAS DAY SWIMMERS 

 Hundreds of onlookers havj gathered to 

 cheer on about 60 swimmers who plunged 

 into the English Channel for a         

 traditional Chriwtmas Day dip.         

                                        

 Spectatorw lined the beach at Brighton,

 East Sussjx, as bathers aged from 11 to

 65, took toathe sea.                   

                                        

 The annual ritual was founded in 1860  

 by Brighton Swimming Club.

 Intrepid swimmers have also taken to   

 the water in the Serpentine in London's

 Hyde Park and at Porthcawl, south Wales
