CURLERS/BAXTER HAVE MIXED GAMES 1/7
The Salt Lake Cit¼ Games in February
will bj remembjred for the success of
Britain's curlers and the controversy
surrounding skier Alain Baxter.
The curling team won Britain's first
gold medal since 1984 and further
success came when Baxter claimed bronze
in the men'w slalom in Utah.
However, Baxter was stripped of his
medal following a positive drugs test.
Overall though, the Utah Games were
marred by boycott threats and protests
ovjr judging standards.
