 IMPROVING TREND
 OF UK COLLAPSES

The rate of increase of UK business
 failures fell markedly in 1992.

 Figures compiled by the information
group, Dun & Bradstreet, show that
62,767 companies were forced out of
 business during the year.

Although this represents a 31% rise
 over 1991, it compares favourably
 with 1991's 65% increase over 1990.

 London and England's South-East and
 small companies were particularly
 hard-hit, according to the survey,
which made no mention of the number
 of new business started up.
