 LLOYDS ROCKETS TO £1.3bn               

                                        

 Sharply lower provisions for bad and   

 doubtful debts have helped Lloyds Bank 

 profits soar 26% to £1.3bn.            

                                        

 In 1993, it saw earnings of £1.03bn and

 made provisions of £503m but last year 

 Lloyds cut the bad debt charge to £135m

                                        

 Chairman Sir Robin Ibbs said he        

 believed 1995 would be another year    

 when Lloyds would show an improved     

 performance.
