 ROLLS FIRM TO AXE 400 JOBS             

                                        

 A Rolls-Royce subsidiary company has   

 announced plans to axe 400 jobs.       

                                        

 Tyneside-based power engineering       

 company Parsons, which employs 2,200   

 people, said the move was part of a    

 "drive for greater efficiency".        

                                        

 The company added that the job losses, 

 most of which will be compulsory, were 

 needed to improve its "competitive     

 position".
