Universe began to cool down and really
consisted of a soup of quarks - the
sub-sub atomic nitty-gritty of all
matter.
By one tenth of a second it had grown
to about half a light year across, was
about four billion times denser than
water and had a temperature of about
1000 billion degrees centigrade.
