 ■ BABY WHO FOUGHT OFF AIDS             

                                        

 A boy who showed unmistakable evidence 

 of having the AIDS virus at two months 

 old has apparently fought it off.      

                                        

 The boy, from Los Angeles, who is now  

 five years old, was diagnosed HIV-free 

 by his first birthday.                 

                                        

 Scientists are trying to find out      

 whether there is anything in his immune

 system that helped him to fight the    

 virus or gave him special protection.
