 C&G ACCEPTS £1.8bn TAKEOVER            

                                        

 The Cheltenham & Gloucester has voted  

 to accept the £1.8bn takeover bid from 

 Lloyds Bank, triggering cash windfalls 

 for around 800,000 investors.          

                                        

 Investors of the building society voted

 by 629,000 in favour and 34,000        

 against, representing 94.9% majority in

 favour among those who voted.          

                                        

 Borrowers at a special meeting voted by

 130,000 to 45,000 for the takeover.
