 ABBEY BUYS INTO TRAVEL MONEY           

                                        

 Abbey National moved into the travel   

 cash business with a one-third stake in

 Travelex, the world's largest passenger

 terminal bureau de change operator.    

                                        

 Travelex has 190 outlets in the UK, the

 USA, Australia, New Zealand and Europe.

                                        

 The other shareholders are the Hambro  

 financial services group with 21% and  

 founder chairman Lloyd Dorfman and his 

 family with 44%.
