 BOOTS FINALISES SALE TO BASF           

                                        

 High Street group Boots has exchanged  

 contracts with Germany's BASF for the  

 £840m sale of its pharmaceuticals arm, 

 a deal agreed in principle last year.  

                                        

 The price takes into account net assets

 of £230m as at end-March 1994 and Boots

 will receive an extra £230m cash held  

 by its Puerto Rican subsidiary.        

                                        

 Profits before exceptionals were £79m  

 in the year to March 31 1994.
