 In Sri Lanka tourists pay to visit     

 turtle hatcheries and can release a    

 baby turtle back into the sea.         

                                        

 ■ Their chances of survival double -   

   most would otherwise be eaten by     

   predators on their journey to the sea

                                        

 ■ Staggered releases increase survival.

                                        

 And the tourist trade "gives locals a  

 vested interest in conservation", says 

 the Tortoise Trust's Andy Highfield.
