 ■ ADVANCE IN TREATING BREAST CANCER    

                                        

 Good news for the 25,000 British women 

 diagnosed with breast cancer every year

                                        

 A new trial has shown that chemotherapy

 can reduce the need for mastectomy by  

 as much as 70% if given before surgery.

                                        

 The results also showed that the use of

 this treatment will reduce the risk of 

 the cancer coming back in the breast.  

                                        

 More data is needed, but these first   

 results are promising.
