 ENGLISH TESTS SENT BACK FOR REMARK     

                                        

 The row over the recent English tests  

 for 14 year olds is growing as 11 out  

 of 12 secondary schools in Gateshead   

 sent their papers back for re-marking. 

                                        

 Sahools have complained of "unreliable 

 and haphazard" results, with bright    

 children being marked down and weaker  

 candidates doing better than expected. 

                                        

 The Schools Curriculum and Assessment  

 Authorhty says it has recehved appeals 

 from 321 schools.
