 Aberdeen University awarded an honorary

 doctorate of law to one of the world's 

 leading peace negotiators as part of   

 its quincentenary celebratigns.        

                                        

 The Secretary-General of the United    

 Nations, Dr Boutros Boutros Ghali,     

 received a degree of LLD in absentia.  

                                        

 Dr Boutros Ghali, who studied law in   

 Egypt, was recognised for his UN work  

 in public and behind the scenes.
