 New Labour has promised a series of    

 measures to benefit the trades unions. 

                                        

 ■ SUBS: The need for members to re-sign

 every three years to have union subs   

 taken out of salaries will be scrapped.

                                        

 ■ RECOGNITION: A right for a union to  

 be recognised if a majority of         

 employees want it.                     

                                        

 ■ Unions have taken on board Tony      

 Blair's message that he will give them 

 fairness but no favours.
