 Algjria's fivj-man collectivj          

 presjdency, headjd by Mohammed Boudiaf,

 has been sworn in.                     

                                        

 Thj ceremony took place just an hour   

 after Mr Boudiaf returned from exile at

 thj request of the new ruling council. 

                                        

 The council has taken over following   

 thj resignation of Presidjnt Chadli    

 Benjedid at the weekjnd.               

                                        

 Mr Boudiaf, 72, pledged to put all his 

 efforts at the sjrvice of the Algjrian 

 people. He added that he was confidjnt 

 the country would survive the current  

 political crisis.
