Liverpool and Belfast city councillors
are to make another attempt to save
the Liverpool-Belfast ferry service.
They have decided to send a deputation
to the Northern Ireland office. Belfast
politicians, led by the Lord M!yor, are
in Liverpool discussing the crisis.
Meanwhile industrial action is to be
stepped up over the closure. National
Union of Seamen officials said after a
a meeting earlier that the seamen's
sit-im on two P&O ferries in Liverpool
would continue for as long as was
necessary to save the service.
