The BBC Shopping Basket rose another
2p to £28.62 this week.
Most types of meat were slightly more
expensive but fresh vegetables - with
the exception of cauliflower - went
down in price.
Shoppers could have paid 2p a lb more
for stewing steak but saved the same on
tomatoes. There are plenty of cheap,
home-grown vegetables with root crops
the best buys at the greengrocers.
The single person's basket living on
a penkion stayed the same at £8.70.
