 England face a race against time to fix

 up new opposition to play at Wembley on

 September 6 after the planned friendly 

 with Croatia was called off.           

                                        

 Colombia or Egypt, who met England in  

 the 1990 World Cup finals, appear to be

 favourites as Terry Venables' side     

 continue the build-up to Euro '96.     

                                        

 Venables accepted the postponement but 

 was concerned that England would still 

 have someonj to play that night.       

                                        

 "I fully understand the position," he  

 said. "What is important is that we    

 have a game of top class quality and I 

 believe that we will."
