 BRIDGE DIVIDES, YELTSIN URGES REFORMERS

 Boris Yeltsin has urged Russian        

 reformers to unite before parliamentary

 elections scheduled for December.      

                                        

 In an interview marking the anniversary

 of the failed coup against Mikhail     

 Gorbachev in 1991, President Yeltsin   

 said reformers were too divided to     

 establish true democracy.              

                                        

 But he added that recent differences   

 between himself and the pro-reform camp

 could be overcome.                     

                                        

 Correspondents say Mr Yeltsin is aiming

 to restore his image as the standard-  

 bearer of democratic reforms.
