 Ireland scooped the pool in the Silk   

 Cut Speed Derby with John Ledingham    

 taking first and second place with     

 Francis Connors third.                 

                                        

 The army captain won with Castlepollard

 in 93.38 secs with his second mount    

 Garraun clocking 94.55, completing a   

 hat-trick of victories in the event.   

                                        

 Connors went round the testing Sussex  

 course in 98.13 with William Funnell   

 the highest placed English rider in    

 fourth place.                          

                                        

 Riding Impressionist he recorded a time

 of 102.18 secs.
