 Martin Bell reports on the fatal road  

 accident near Sarajevo:                

                                        

 The American delegation was travelling 

 under French escort on the Igman road, 

 a narrow logging track now being turned

 into a main UN supply route.           

                                        

 The side of the road gave way under the

 weight of the vehicle, which fell      

 hundreds of feet into a ravine.        

                                        

 There it hit two landmines laid by the 

 Bosnian army. It caught fire and its   

 ammunition exploded.  Accidents on the 

 road are commonplace, but none as      

 lethal as this.
