Matthew Le Tissier hit an opening day
hat-trick but could not save The Saints
from defeat in a thriller at The Dell.
Colin Cooper fired Forest in front with
an eighth minute free-kick before Le
Tissier equalised from a penalty.
Ian Woan restored Forest's lead with a
fierce 20-yard drive before he helped
Kevin Campbell set up Bryan Roy for
their third just before half-time.
Le Tissier pulled one back with another
penalty before Woan set up Roy for his
second, and though Le Tissier curled in
a 20-yard free-kick, Forest held out.
