 Claire Booker claimed a creditable     

 tenth place in the five kilometres long

 distance event in what is her first    

 major championships.                   

                                        

 It was only the fourth time that the   

 17-year-old national champion had      

 competed over the distance and she was 

 battling for seventh place at the turn.

                                        

 But she slipped back after rounding the

 boat and finished in four minutes,     

 20.20 seconds, four minutes behind     

 winner Rita Kovacs of Hungary.         

                                        

 Meanwhile, despite goals from Michelle 

 Timms and Sue Langston, Britain lost   

 to Hungary 12-2 in the water-polo.
