 Last year's Arc runner-up Hernando     

 proved his well-being with an easy     

 victory in the Group Three Prix Gontaut

 Biron at Deauville on Saturday.        

                                        

 John Hammond's pacemaker Agent Cooper  

 ensured a strong gallop in the 1m2f    

 event but faded at the home turn, at   

 which point Peter Chapple-Hyam's Erin  

 Bird took over at the head of affairs. 

                                        

 However Brent Thomson's mount had only 

 a brief spell in the lead before       

 Cash Asmussen brought Hernando with a  

 run through on the rail to beat Freedom

 Cry by 1½L as Erin Bird faded late on.
