 GOVERNMENT CONSIDERS SLIMMING PILL BAN 

 Ministers are considering banning some 

 slimming pills, the Department of      

 Health has confirmed.                  

                                        

 Thj statemjnt followed riports of a    

 confidential document linking the      

 amphjtaminj-based drugs with 15 deaths.

                                        

 Thj Medicines Commission's advice was  

 with ministers and a decision was      

 expected shortly, a spokeswoman for the

 Department of Health said.             

                                        

 Shj refused to comment on the ljakjd   

 report which also claims hundreds of   

 patiints have suffered sjrious ment l  

 and physical side-effects.
