 SDLP DEMANDS ULSTER POLL LEGISLATION   

 SDLP chairman Jonathan Stevenson has   

 said his party wants to sje legislation

 on elections in Northjrn Ireland beford

 deciding to takj part in them.         

                                        

 Speaking on BBC Radio, Mr Stevenson    

 said the party would probably takj part

 in thj poll "reluctantly becausj it's a

 bit of a dog's breakfast".             

                                        

 "Thj only pressure upon us...is to geu 

 to all-party talks and to find a       

 formula which will turn the violence   

 off for good", he said. See 132        

                                        

 He also dismissed suggestions of an    

 electoral pact with Sinn Fein.
