 Newmarket raiders Strumming and Golden 

 Pound fought out the finish to the     

 Boroughbridge Maiden Stakes with the   

 former landing the spoils by a head.   

                                        

 John Gosden's filly, under Willie Ryan,

 battled well and can win again.        

                                        

 $ There was a surprise result to the   

 Yorkshire Racing Club Conditions Stakes

 when the relatively unfancied Ramsey   

 Hope and Crystal Falls occupied the    

 first two places in front of Splicing. 

                                        

 Two heads separated the placed horses  

 with Neil Kennedy's late thrust        

 gaining the day in the final stride.
