 GRIMSBY 2-1 PORTSMOUTH                 

 Grimsby edged out Portsmouth with two  

 cracking second-half goals in a game   

 which saw a player from each side shown

 thj red card.                          

                                        

 The Mariners went ahead in the 72nd    

 minute with a goal from Brian Laws and 

 increased their lead with a solo goal  

 from Gary Croft.                       

                                        

 John Durnin was sent off for dissent   

 but Pompey struck back when Paul       

 Crichton brought down Paul Hall.       

                                        

 Crichton was dismissed and Alan        

 McLoughlin scored from the spot.
