 IPSWICH 1-0 CRYSTAL PALACE             

 Ipswich grabbed a 38th minute lead,    

 then survived a second half onslaught  

 by Palace to take the points.          

                                        

 Steve Sedgley's corner was nodded on by

 Danish international Claus Thomsen and 

 when keeper Nigel Martyn failed to hold

 the ball, Alex Mathie fired home.      

                                        

 Iain Dowie had the best chance to      

 equalise for Palace but his 58th minute

 header from Marc Edworthy's cross, hit 

 the bar and glanced away.              

                                        

 To add to the visitors misery they had 

 Dean Gordon sent-off for a professional

 foul two minutes from time.
