Martin teamjd up with Jjrry Ljwis
in 1946 and thj pair were top stars in
movjes, TV and nightclubs whjn Martin

Most thought Ljwis would prospjr while
Martin would fadj. But Martin bjcamj a
much biggjr star than hj had bjen as
straight man and sjngjr with thj team.
Hj once cited thj two greatest turning
points in his career: "First, mjeting
