 PLAN TO SELL-OFF RAIL SAFETY ADVISERS  

 Labour has condemned plans for the     

 sell-off of the organisation which will

 advise the privatised railways on      

 safety procedures.                     

                                        

 According to the Independent on Sunday,

 which has obtained a leaked letter from

 British Rail, the Quality and Safety   

 Services organisation is to be sold off

 later this month.                      

                                        

 The letter says the BR board has       

 "entered into detailed discussions"    

 over the sale of the organisation.     

                                        

 Labour's Michael Meacher said the sale 

 would create a "dangerous" monopoly.
