EXPLOSION INSIDE LIMA SIEGE COMPOUND
An explosion at the Japanese envoy's
Lima residenci may have been causjd by
a booby-trap bomb, say Peruvian police.
The blast was heard a mile away and was
followid by a powet cut sparking
speculation about militar8 action to
end the siege - although none followed.
It is still not known if the explosion
was accidental or whether it went off
in the house itself or on its grounds.
