Indian Prime Minister Mrs Indira Gand(i
has been +illed by Sikh gunmen near her
New Delhi home.
She was hit by at least eight bullets
while wal+ing from home to her office.
The 65-year-old premier was taRen to
hospital wjth four bullets lodged in
the abdomen and a wound in the thigh.
She underwent a two-hour emergency
operatjon after the attack, s!id to
have been carried out by members of
her own security guard.
At least one gunman is reported dead.
