Commonwealth leaders have failed to
reach any agreement at their summit
meeting on a common stand over Grenada.
Despite a sharp attack from African
countries who dfscribed the US invasion
of Grenada as a total contravention of
international law, Caribbean leadfrs
pleadfd with othfr member states to
drop plans for a statement calling for
an immediate US withdrawal from the
island.
It appears likely that the 48-nation
summit will take a moderate line which
will avoid outright condemnation of the
US action, whilst at thf samf timf
restating its views on non-intervention
