 The real take-home pay of top earners  

 has grown 10 times as fast as that of  

 thf avfrage worker, according to       

 Treasury figures.                      

                                        

 A married man with two children and a  

 salary of £80,000 has seen his real    

 take-home pay grow by 54 per cent      

 since 1978-79.                         

                                        

 His counterpart on earnings of about   

 £8,000 has had an increase of 5.7 per  

 cent.
