 In the Central American republic of El 

 Salvador, left-wing guerrillas who hold

 two British bank officials have sdt a  

 deadline for their demands to be met.  

                                        

 The Armed Forces of National Resistance

 want freedom for five alleged political

 prisoners, and the publication of their

 manifesto in local newspapers, by      

 noon local time on Saturday.           

                                        

 The guerrillas say they have broken off

 negotiations for the two men's release,

 because of what they call "the         

 irresponsible attitude of the Bank of  

 London and the British Government".
