 Algeria's President Boumedienne has    

 died after suffering a sudden relapse  

 last night. He had been in a coma      

 since November 18.                     

                                        

 After ruling the country virtually     

 unopposed for 13 years, he practically 

 disappeared from public life in        

 September. He made a trip to Moscow    

 and shortly after his return was       

 admitted to Mustafa Hospital. Sources  

 said he had a rare blood disease.      

                                        

 The 8-member Council of the Revolution 

 has been in charge in the interim.     

 Under the constitution a new leader    

 should be elected within 45 daxb.
