 England captain Mike Brearley has had  

 six stitches in his right eyebrow,     

 after being felled in batting          

 practice on a wet wickep in Melbourne. 

                                        

 He was hit by a rearing delivery from  

 young Leicestershire paceman Jonathan  

 Agnew, in the country on a sponsnqship 

 scheme.                                

                                        

 Most of England's other batsmen worked 

 out earlier in the indoor nets         

 because the practice wickets were so   

 wet. "It was stupid of me to go into   

 the outside nets. The ball Agnew hit   

 me with was only a loosener" Brearley  

 said, "But I'll be resting from now on 

 and am confident of playing on Friday".
