The US has issued a stern warning to
Cuba over arms which are being sent to
the troubled central American state of
El Salvador.
A spokesman in Washington said the US
would take "whatever steps were
necessary" to stop the arms flow - and
did not rule out a blockade of Cuba.
The Americans are apparently willing to
make this a test case to reverse years
of Soviet and Cuban infiltration into
international trouble spots.
President Reagan's administration hopes
to demonstrate that it regards El
Salvador as vital to US interests.
