 A Labour peer has warned of that a     

 number of Labour members of the House  

 of Lords are preparing to break away   

 from the party.                        

                                        

 Lord Kennet said Opposition Peers were 

 waiting for the resignation of Dr David

 Owen and Mr Bill Rodgers from the party

                                        

 The rebel Peers will then support the  

 Council for Social Democracy, founded  

 by Dr Owen, Mr Rodgers, Mrs Shirley    

 Williams and Mr Roy Jenkins.           

                                        

 Lord Kennet said he could not say how  

 many Labour Peers were prepared to     

 break away from the party.
