 In South America, Peru has threatened  

 revenge attacks against Ecuador over   

 alleged border violations.             

                                        

 Tension between the two countries has  

 been running high for some time, and   

 military sources now report that Peru's

 armed forces have been fully mobilised.

                                        

 Peru claims that Ecuador has been      

 infiltrating forces along the jungle-  

 covered mountainous border between the 

 two countries.                         

                                        

 The Peruvians have now sent a          

 communique threatening "appropriate    

 action" if the incursions continue.
