 ■ The steel products giant, Guest, Keen

 & Nettlefolds is linking up with the   

 State-owned British Steel Corporation  

 in the drawn steel field.              

                                        

 The result is a jointly-owned company, 

 Allied Steel & Wire, that will have a  

 foot planted in both private and public

 sectors.                               

                                        

 Allied, whose turnover will be in the  

 order of £200m a year, brings together 

 BSC's Appleby Frodingham No 2 rod mill 

 and GKN's bar- and rod-making capacity,

 plus its Tremorfa mini steelworks in   

 South Wales.
