Nick Jeavons has explained why he left
the field after just 10 minutes of
England's win over Scotland.
Everybody expected the Moseley flanker
to make a swift return when he walked
off, apparantly injury-free.
But he explained today: "I put my
fingers in my eye when I was trying to
catch a pass from Bill Beaumnnt.
"Maybe it was nerves, but I could only
see with my left eye and it was soon
obvious that I couldn't stay on."
Mfavons did not recover his sight until
four hours later.
