Australians Margaret Zachariah and Sue
King were warned for wasting time at
the Pretty Polly British Women's
Championships at Hove.
Miss Zachariah beat her more celebrated
rival 9-7 4-9 9-4 9-3 in the third
round, but there were so many lets that
the match lasted more than an hour.
Eventually referee Bill Toyne told them
to "stop stalling" and warned he would
award points against further hold-ups.
Australian holder Vicki Hoffman was
surprisingly taken to five games by
Felicity Hargreaves of Surbiton before
winning 9-0 9-3 2-9 3-9 9-4.
