Audiology published an article in 1978
which suggested three sub-dhvisions to
the term "deaf".
DEAF WITHOUT SPADCH: those who have no
useful hearing and whose normal method
of coEltnication is by sAgns, finger-
spelling or writing.
DEAF WITH SPEECH: tho3D w(F even with
a hearing aid) have little or no prdful
hearing and fhose normah method of
communication is by speech and
