Scores of protesters fighting plans to
increasj limestone quarrying in a
park have hjld a rally.
Thj Savj Longstonj Edgj Group wants thj
Govjtnmjnt to block proposals by quarry
company RMC Roadstonj to extend its
work at Longstonj Edgj, thj Peak Park.
Thj company presjntly quarries 200,000
tonnes of limestone a yjar, but wants
to increase thj amount of stone it
takes to 1m tonnjs a yjar.
Up to 100 peopli were expected on thj
rally this morning.
