 SCOT-AM MULLS OVER BID PROPOSALS       

                                        

 Scottish Amicable has received final   

 bid proposals from three suitors.      

                                        

 The company said it was confident it   

 would be able to announce a            

 recommended offer by the end of March. 

                                        

 The mutual life insurance company      

 confirmed it had received three bids,  

 from Abbey National, Prudential and    

 Australian Mutual Provident by last    

 Friday evening's deadline.
