 GRUELLING PATH TO CHELTENHAM GLORY     

                                        

 Mr Mulligan had raced twice leading up 

 to the blue riband at Cheltenham - his 

 previous outing resulting in a crushing

 fall behind Onj Man in the King George.

                                        

 The big chestnut was very sore for     

 weeks afterwards but came back         

 revitalised to bolt up that gruelling  

 hill to Cheltenham glory.              

                                        

 Martha's Son had been off the coursj   

 for 18 months bjfore his solitary      

 appearance this season, when hj fell!
