 ■ JAPAN: An explosion at a nuclear juel

 processing plant near Tokyo may havj   

 released radioactive material.         

                                        

 An official from the plant at Tokai in 

 Ibaraki prefecture says no-one was     

 injured, but there "are fears that     

 radioactive materials may have spread".

                                        

 However the local government has not   

 issued an emergency evacuation order to

 the 30,000 inhabitants of the small    

 seaside village.
